Pod Films was born in 2007 when our first little movie collection led to a Channel 4 commission for the iconic 3-Minute Wonder series. Our second film Beach was short-listed for the BritDoc short film award.

Being a virtual company means we can work anywhere, not just London and Bristol. We don’t have large office overheads that are passed on in fees, so clients get great value.

From concept to delivery, our aim is to make strong, memorable films with high production values. And thanks to the energy and dedication of our small, creative team, we can turn out great work – without the Hollywood prices.

Producer / Director: Dave Young

Dave brings fifteen years experience in producing and directing documentaries, promos and corporates for brands and broadcasters. He brings that extra special ‘something’ to every project and gets the job done on time and in budget. With his photographer’s eye for detail, he has a knack for getting the best out of talent – and that means everyone from nervous migrants to professional models, actors and dogs. Dave also has a passion for cycling up steep hills. The Alps mainly. He says it makes the rest of life seem easier somehow.

Producer: Lesley Gillilan

With a solid background in national journalism (Telegraph, Guardian, Independent, Financial Times among others), Lesley is our fixer, researcher, occasional script-editor and all-round creative ideas person. Highly organised, she turns her hand to anything from location finding to interviewing talent. On days off, you’ll find her head buried in a novel: she’s in the middle of writing one.

Associates: Pod friends

Our experience and list of contacts means we can pull in top industry talent to work on specific briefs. And we only pay them when they are doing their magic. This results in a much more creative offer than traditional production companies who use their salaried staff for all their work.

Our stable of leading soundies have worked with everyone from David Beckham, Kylie and the Rolling Stones to Wallace and Gromit and Dr Who. And we regularly work with top-flight creatives as well as respected names in script-writing, original music, media buying, animation and lighting design.

Editor: Jason Porthouse

An unflappable Emmy award-winning editor, Jason has TV credits for HBO, BBC, ITV and Discovery in the UK, US and Europe. Also ‘Wassup’ TV advert for Budweiser and corporate clients including Sony, Cable & Wireless and Tescos. He loves big bad motorbikes and is very proud of his pony tail.

Motion Graphics: Ryan Dunn

A vibrant, creative and thoroughly reliable motion graphics designer, Ryan is our master of After Effects. His favourite phrase is ‘we can do that’. Married to an Icelander, Ryan has a growing collection of warm clothes.
